Citizens from 51 Countries Could Enjoy 72-hour TWOV in Xianyang International Airport

Approved by the State Council, citizens from 51 countries could enjoy the services of transit without visa (TWOV) in 72 hours in Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, according to the press conference of the People’s Government of Shaanxi on the morning of April 4. And the specific implementation time of such policy is subject to the approval of Ministry of Public Security, which is expected to take into effective in at least two months.

Here are the 51 countries:
1. 24 Countries with European Schengen Visa: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland

2. Other 13 Countries in Europe: Russia, Britain, Ireland, Cyprus , Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania

3. 6 Countries in America: US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile

4. 2 Countries in Oceania: Australia, New Zealand

5. 6 Countries in Asia: Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, UAE and Qatar

Citizens of these countries could enjoy the TWOV policy as long as they have the valid international travel documents and interline tickets to a third country or region with the determined time and seat in 72 hours in Xianyang International Airport. To be mentioned, the activity scope during the 72 hours is the administrative area of Xi’an and Xianyang.

According to Ministry of Public Security’s interpretation, such policy requires those people are citizens from the 51 countries, has bought the interline tickets with the determined date and seat and fly to a third country or region. For example, a passenger who flies from Finnish capital Helsinki to Turku via Xi’an could not enjoy such policy.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has sponsored a special meeting for the better implementation of such policy and determined to organize tourism companies to develop a batch of featured tourism products aiming at such tourists in addition to further improve the mechanism and soft and hard facilities. Zhang Xiaoning, Deputy Secretary-general of the provincial government, introduced that Shaanxi is expected to open six international lines direct to Moscow, Paris, Singapore and others by 2015.
